Lake Chesdin is a reservoir located in south-central Virginia, approximately 30 miles south of Richmond. It was created in 1968 by the construction of the Lake Chesdin Dam on the Appomattox River. The lake covers a surface area of approximately 3,100 acres with over 40 miles of shoreline and a maximum depth of around 50 feet. It is a popular spot for fishing, boating, and other recreational activities. The lake also serves as a primary source of drinking water for the City of Petersburg and surrounding areas. The surrounding area is home to a variety of wildlife, including fish, birds, and reptiles.
